INTERMITTENT FASTING TO BRING SEASONS TO MY DAY (AND GET BETTER SLEEP)
Fasting sounds inflexible but it breeds flexibility
and not just in my blood glucose levels but in my resolve.
Become in tune with the cycles of your day, become resilient to the cycles of your life.
And everything in life is in cycles; energy, mood, jobs, health, relationships.
Trying to stay in summer is not healthy and not possible.
Previously I was having my summer harvest festival at night eating late and having those sweet snacks.
Which led to not sleeping and putting my winter back, dragging it out till midday.
Look at my blood sugar charts below..
Before trying fasting
Now
NB. My Average Glucose is still high because I’m still enjoying chocolate nearly every day..
Now I stop eating by 7pm and start eating after 11am. I don’t eat for 15-16 hours a day and it now feels natural!
Now my morning is Springtime! - It’s hope, it’s new beginnings! Get light, time to act!
Daytime is Summer - it’s energy, resources, nourishing, abundance - work, food and exercise.
Then harvest time - dinner before 7pm.
Holiday/vacation time - watch a film.
Autumn - light fading (no screens), reading, journaling, review the days successes and failures.
‘It is in the fall we discover how pleasant the winter will be.’ Ram Jain
Winter - Get cozy, have great sleep!
Previously not eating all evening would have been unthinkable. There was too much going on in my chest and stomach. I called it my second hunger. I wasn’t food hungry it was higher up than my belly, it was to do with anxiety and connection.
What has helped, hours of mindfulness and meditation work, bringing discipline into my life, restricting light (See Andrew Huberman clips on YouTube), inner child work, grateful for guidance from my mentorship with Andrew Huvaere, Menswork via Sacred Sons.
I was inspired to try Intermittent Fasting after I listened to [Why Intermittent Fasting Works with Jason Fung on The Feel Better Live More Podcast with Dr Rangan Chatterjee] and realised humans aren’t designed to eat all day.
